This series of books covers the coming together of two diverse groups of peoples and their cultures. In 8th grade students will study westward expansion as part of US history. The texts help us understand that there are two perspectives to consider during this time period. Informational texts help provide details about geographic locations of settlements and economic and instructional developments that came with this time period, and historical fiction helps learners step back in time through characters and events of the period. This kit contains sample audio text connected to a few books as well as a westward travel simulation game.
