This kit focuses on building sound symbol correspondences using manipulatives such as letter tiles to build words containing consonant blends and diagraphs. Educators can begin by showing an object or image that represents a word containing a consonant blend or diagraph and students can then tap the sounds within the words, map the sounds with non-letter placeholders and finally build the words with letters, letter cards, or Unifix letter cubes. Letter cards, objects, and blocks can also be used as communication tools for learners who use direct selection, switches, or eye gaze to communicate their choices.
