This book was written to address some of the major issues faced by all children, but particularly so by those with autism spectrum disorders. Oliver the Onion doesn't like himself but when he decides to try on the look of a tempting-looking orange, he soon realizes that he cannot run away from who he is but should instead celebrate his uniqueness. Oliver Onion is written for ages 4-10 but the colorful illustrations and heartfelt message will appeal to children and adults. A discussion guide helps teachers and others engage children in a thoughtful exploration of the book.
