The School Motivation and Learning Strategies Inventory (SMALSI) was designed to identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses as they relate to academic performance. The SMALSI assists with identifying students with ineffective learning strategies, low academic motivation, attention and concentration problems, difficulties with taking tests/test anxiety. The SMALSI can be used as a screening tool in general education settings for those students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or emotional disturbance. There are two forms: The Child Form consisting of 147 items (for ages 8 to 12) and the Teen Form consisting of 170 items (for ages 13 to 18). Both forms fall into two groups: Student Strengths and Student Liabilities. Completion time ranges from 20-30 minutes. (Requires special credentials to access - Level 2.)
