Did You Notice? Virtual Resource Training

Did You Notice? (DYN) An Exploration of Communication is a virtual reality encounter paired with an online learning experience. Integral to the work of direct support professionals (DSPs) is developing a genuine understanding that each of the people they support want to interact; communication can take many different forms; all behavior is a form of communication; and most importantly, empathy is key to the support they provide. The DYN training consists of an online module available at www.didyounotice.org and virtual reality experience, simulating real-life interactions with a variety of people with developmental disabilities. Presented with a simulation using an Oculus headset, users will observe and interact with four people with varied communication preferences, styles, and behaviors in their home and community. The realistic training allows users to practice and build confidence, learn about communication, and refine their observational skills. A single Oculus Quest headset pre-loaded with the DYN virtual reality experience and hand controls may be checked out. (Requires special credentials to access - Level 2.)
